Was the Meeru Island Resort, Maldives good for the kids?:

Yes the resort was fantastic for kids, lots of offer for them. Apart from the beautiful beaches and sea with a vast array of fishes and other sealife. The resort was paradise there was plenty for us all to do, there was a games room for the kids, there was a seperate restaurant for families with a good selection of food (not just traditional dishes). Lots of boats trips to see dolphins and turtles. The resort had the most wonderful staff, made us feel like VIPs. We went in July so there was rain, but it was more refreshing than anything and kept me, my husband and my 3 years and 1 year old cool in the hot weather.

What was your accommodation at the Meeru Island Resort, Maldives?

Type: Villa
Name: Meeru Island Resorts Beach Hut

How was the accommodation for the children?:

Accommodation suitability for children rating: 5 stars

Was brilliant, close to the sea, but not to close that you had to worry about the kids (as they also have water villas that are on the sea) Villa was very clean, the staff clean them twice a day. Was a perfect size for a family of 4.

Did you eat out with your children at the Meeru Island Resort and how was it?

Eating out for children rating: 5 stars

Yes every night. There was a family restaurant were the staff were very good and friendly. Had a brilliant buffet style menu, we didn't eat the same thing once. The buffet was suitable for the kids, they loved it!

How were the things to do for the children?

Activities for children rating: 4 stars

There was a games room, playing at the beach, boat trips, excurisions to visit other islands.

Are there other things that parents should know about the Meeru Resort?

We were dubious about taking the kids to some where so far away and hot, but the kids were fine on the 10hr flight (we took a night one - so they slept) and going in July it was cooler because of the rain.

I bought nappies on the island, but with everything in Maldives everything is expensive (as you can't buy it from anywhere else) I can't remember if there was baby food or not as my youngster just ate from the restaurant.

There was a lot of families there and there were several families with young babies when we went in July 2010. With regards to activities on the resort there was a games room but they were more for older children but there were family friendly pools to use. We spent most of our time playing on the beach and in the sea, we also brought a few toys from home to keep them entertained. There were also boat trips that were suitable for the kids.

We didn't use the babysitting service there, so could't say if it was a good service or not. The 2 inclusive restaurants on the resort are an adult only one and a family one, so you don't feel as though your disturbing other people.

The Meeru resort was a very nice holiday its one of the most beautiful places we have had the chance to visit. It was perfect for the chance to chill out and relax.
