FCO Locate: Tell them where you are travelling to.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) have an online service that enables travellers to register their travel plans.
That way, the embassy and crisis staff can help better in an emergency such as a natural disaster or terrorist attack.
It's very easy and quick to do online and means that if a disaster does occur, the embassy can contact you to see if you're OK and give advice as needed. For information and the online registration see FCO Locate.
