This week on the BabyAbroad Blog, we bring you the best of baby and toddler travel toys available at bargain prices online.
First up is this play mat by Lamaze available from Amazon. This pyramid play house is suitable through three developmental stages: stage 1 (0 months+) tummy time and lay & play, Stage 2 (6 months+) sit & play and stage 3 (9 months+) peek-a-boo and matching games. It is a flat playmat, or a baby gym with hanging toys and finally, a peekabo house for older babies.
OK, it might not fit in your suitcase, but it’s perfect for putting in the car to take along on holiday, or even a short trip to the grandparents, giving your baby a safe, fun place to play. At the moment, it’s available at the great price of £36.99 + £4.97 P&P* (rrp £64.99).
Another fabulous toy that will fold up to be taken in the car, is the Big City Carry Along by the Early Learning Centre. With a roadway, ramps, car parks, shops, roundabouts, and even a helipad. A great travel toy that can be packed up in the car boot to be played with when you get there.
It cleverly folds up into a zip up carry case with dimensions: length 35cm x width 42cm x depth 13cm. It doesn’t come with cars, so you’ll need to add your own. It’s currently available at the bargain price of £20 *(usually £40). And in the words of my car loving 5 year old daughter “that’s cool mummy”.
We’re always looking for great travel toys for the journey as well. Usborne sticker books are a favourite with BabyAbroad, but we’ve spotted this too. It’s a pack of activity cards “100 things for little children to do on a journey” available from Amazon. At under £5, if it keeps the little ones amused for a while, it’ll be priceless!
The activities are suitable for children aged around 4 years and upwards and include mazes, doodles, puzzle games, etc. And the cards are wipe clean, so can be used again and again.
And finally, something for on the journey and at your destination. We love to see how our children view the world, and a great way to see that is with this popular Vtech camera from Amazon, currently at £39.99 (rrp £49.99)* and with free delivery. It’s rugged, easy to use and erm…. Pink! (though also available in blue too). It’s a 2 mega pixel camera, so of course the quality of the images isn’t as clear as the latest adult digitals, but at this price, it’s perfect for the kids. All the customer reviewers have seen their kids Vtech cameras bounced off walls, floors, etc and praised the excellent robustness of it.
There’s some fun effects that can be added onto the images, which will keep them amused on the go. And then after the holiday, you can create a scrap book together.
Do let us know if you find any bargain travel toys out there online, we’d love to share your findings with other BabyAbroad readers.
