Thank you so much to all those of you who entered our competition to win a “My Holiday…” personalised reading book from Love2read.
We loved reading all your entries and have giggled at some of your funny book moments. There is a clear winner when it comes to kids favourite holiday books. It’s somewhat unsurprising that the most popular author was the fantastic Julia Donaldson, with 20% of you writing that one of her books was your child’s favourite to take on holiday; the Gruffalo being the most popular choice.
Dr Seuss is a firm favourite too. Green Eggs and Ham seems well liked among the youngest travelling folk in your families, but Gaz’s child prefers One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Whichever the choice, your kids are always tickled pink with amusement at them.
I fear for those travelling with some of you on aeroplanes, as it seems that it’s the noises you make to go alongside the books that your kids love best whether it’s Siobhan Marie’s Gruffalo voices or Yvonne’s Chicken Licken animal noises! And many of you can recite your child’s favourite book. I now know I’m not alone in reciting “Dear Zoo” in my sleep!
Activity books are popular too, with suggestions for taking annuals received at Christmas and the ever popular Usborne sticker books. They have one especially for flying which is great for preparing kids for a plane journey and makes even the airport bit fun.
It was nice to see more unusual books such as New Forest Friends & the Litterbugs that was loved by Hollie as a child, and now is her son’s favourite. We could chat about your entries forever, but you want to know who won the competition right?!
And the winner is…
Many congratulations to Delmeza whose daughter loves Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers, because she is apparently penguin mad at the moment! Well done Delmeza, enjoy creating your reading book.
